Mississippi sunrise

One of my favorite places to shoot the sunrise is on the levee along the Yazoo River up Hwy. 61 North. A couple of bayous up there are the perfect setting to see a new day dawn. This was shot on Saturday, Oct. 24, with friends Robert Walker, Jerry Rushing and Ritch Southard. Folks, it just doesn't get any better than this.

  1. Your pictures always have a spiritual quality about them, Marty, and you certainly captured God's glory in these. Can you see the crosses on the horizon in the first and last pictures?

Thank you for such a beautiful way to start my day.

  2. I concur with the Birthday Lady---there's a sermon in the light, a message in the dawn.

I can just feel the little nip of chill, which makes our breaths and the wisps of steam from the thermos cups dance above the scent of the strong coffee, befitting such a powerful display.

This last one is a VERY loud "How Great Thou Art" moment.
