Lake Providence is a beautiful body of water. It's worth the drive up Hwy. 65 to see.
The most startling sight on a recent trip there was this turtle who had been in the water so long he was covered in algae. That is one old turtle. Or I have discovered a new species of hairy turtles!
The first two are stunners---the kind of shots coveted by every State Board of Tourism in the world.
And Turtle, now---those sightings are few and far between---a definite sign of favor and trust. They reminded me instantly of what Johnny Carson called his Second Favorite Joke:
Two old turtles in the swamp, hot and lazy, and one heaves a big sigh and says, "I just can't get it through my head today's Wednesday."
That's an amazing turtle, Marty. Bless his heart ... I wonder if all that algae bothers him.
