Let their be life...

While wandering around Cedar Hill Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 16, I was thrilled to run across this massive stump of a magnolia tree that had been cut down a long time ago that was now being reborn through several branches or seedlings springing from it. I wish I could describe the feeling of happiness that descended on me when I walked up on this. I was overwhelmed Wow! What a lesson! Do we have a great God or what?

Birth of a magnolia seed

The cones (or whatever you call them) of the magnolia tree in my neighbor's yard are birthing their seeds now. The big, red shiny seeds are emerging and looking like fat ticks draining the lifeblood from the tree. Kind of gross when you think of it that way. But they are still beautiful as they are. Life renewing itself is always a wonderful thing.
