Day of the Crest: May 19, 2011: 57.1 feet

These photos were taken this morning to record the Mississippi River at its highest ever level in Vicksburg. Photos at the bridge were taken at two different times. These were taken at around 7 a.m. and a batch below was taken at 6 a.m. What a majestic sight the river is.

I have taken photos of the two home above throughout the flood. I will show you the progression of the flood at a later day.

  2. Marty,

You have been eyes and lens of the Second Siege, and I commend you for your hard work and long hours and Pure-D devotion to the task.

You're braving the dangers and telling the story of a stunning piece of history, and these pictures will be part of your legacy---to your family and to your viewers, now and for always.

I'm so glad that you and your family and home have made it through this scary, dangerous time.
