Natchez Cemetery

Here are a few scenes from a recent trip to the Natchez Cemetery. Anyone want to take a stab at the meaning of the symbolism of the middle photo?

Mesmerizing

I have been waiting for the lotus flowers to make their appearance at Lake Hamilton in Claiborne County because it is such a beautiful sight. Plus, I get to take photos such as this...one of my favorites taken in 2009. I absolutely love this photo.

Layers of life

My gorgeous wife, Karen, and I drove up to Hot Springs, Ark., for the weekend and had a great time exploring that city and some of the lakes surrounding it. I have learned I can either go on trips as a husband or father or as a photographer. I can't do both because it drives the people I go with crazy. But I did manage to snap this photo of a hillside near Lake Ouachita with my iPhone. I love the layers and how they curve around. There's a lot of life recorded here and I am enjoying looking at all the layers and imagining how this came to be. Our God is a great God and He can make dirt layers look absolutely stunning!

The touch of the Master's hand

I ran across this photo last night and its simplicity just grabbed me. It sits in an old church in Louisiana that has seen its congregration dwindle down to under 10 members. The piano is no longer played. But I can't help but think of how God worked his love into the hearts of mortal men through music from this keyboard. To me, this keyboard is holy ground for it served the Lord's purpose. I left this place in reverence.

Old country church

Even though the old country church in the Mississippi Delta has long been abandoned, it doesn't mean that God can't use the sun and a few bits of colored glass to let His Glory shine.

Three deer

Three deer make their way through a borrow pit earlier this summer along the levee near Eagle Lake. It helps to click on the photo to make it larger for viewing.

Grand Gulf Nuclear Station

Ventured down to Hamilton Lake in Claiborne County the other day and caught the steam rising from the cooling tower at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station at sunrise. I love the lily pads in the water in the foreground. Plus, the clouds are pretty awesome, too. Looks like the angels were raking them that morning. Maybe God was playing golf and this was one of the bunkers.

iPhone4 experiment 2

These photos were taken last night. I just stepped out of the truck, aimed the iPhone at the subjects and pressed the little button. Not bad. Not bad at all. But, boy, I wish I had some zoom!

iPhone photos

Wanted to see how well my new iPhone handled photos. Here are two sunsets at the Mississippi River Bridges in Vicksburg.

And for the one or two people who have wondered why I haven't been posting in a while, well, I'll be starting again soon. I promise.
